The Five: Georgia Leads the Way as Texas Deals With Red River Heartbreak

Welcome back to The Five, where we rank five of the best teams in college football. Texas lost to Oklahoma, 27–24. Anyway, here’s the five.

No. 5 — Indiana

The OG gatekeepers are back in their old spot. Indiana is undefeated, and Curt Cignetti has turned the Hoosiers into legitimate contenders. The underdog story is over. The gate is officially closed.

No. 4 — Ohio State

The Buckeyes are loaded, but Jeremiah Smith is the headliner. With 11 touchdowns in six games, the man is making the Heisman look like his to lose. Unfortunately, Ohio State is still very good at football. Some things just aren’t fair.

No. 3 — Miami

Darien Mensah has the Hurricanes rolling, and Miami could be right back in the national championship game. The talent is there, the confidence is there, and this team has the pieces to make another serious run.

No. 2 — Notre Dame

CJ Carr has 16 touchdown passes and just one interception. The Irish are looking strong, and if Carr keeps this up, he could be spending some time in New York as a Heisman finalist. Notre Dame is looking like a serious contender.

No. 1 — Georgia

Georgia takes the top spot after surviving a heavyweight fight with Alabama. It was a hard-fought win, but that missed pass interference call is going to keep Bama fans talking. They’ll be looking for that flag for a while.

And that’s The Five. Hook ’em… or whatever.
